Do you get your regular dose of veggies from salads, vegetables, and other things? If you are like most people now days you probably are not and you are doing your body major harm. Even the Department for Health and Human Services recommends you get 5-9 servings of fruits and vegetables a day.

Why you ask? Well, diets high in cruciferous vegetables have been shown to help everything from inflammation, heart disease, and may even lower your chances of getting cancer and other chronic diseases.

   Your Total Veggie Product
Total Green is what I like to call your "one stop shop" for you veggie needs. Now, while I typically would prefer you to obtain these sort of things in your normal diet, I also realize that it is easier said than done to eat that many veggies. That's why I recommend Total Greens.

Now many of you know that I am a huge proponent of an organic diet. Well, Total Green contains certified organic sprouts which are certified to free of any toxic residues. Sprouts are full of antioxidant properties that protect your body from many diseases. In fact one study (Fahey 1997) showed "Small quantities of cruciferous sprouts may protect against the risk of cancer as effectively as much larger quantities of mature vegetables of the same variety." 

In particular I am a huge fan of broccoli sprouts. Broccoli sprouts are particularly high in phytochemicals. Phytochemicals are naturally occurring nutrients in fruits and vegetables. One phytochemical in broccoli has been shown to be very beneficial for the liver and according to Fahey (2003) can enhance the livers ability to detoxify carcinogens. This phytonutrient also has anti-bacterial activity and has been shown to effective in "blocking gastric tumor formation."

Along the veggie lines, Total Green also contains Cauliflower, Wheat Grass Sprouts, Parsley and other veggie type products which are beneficial for everything from cleansing and digesting to elimination and bowel movements.
Chlorella, Spirulina & Kelp

I know that it may sound weird that algae is actually good for you but it couldn't be more true. Spirulina is an excellent source of proteins, vitamins, amino acids, minerals and other nutrients. Spirulina  has shown promise in the reduction of Allergy type of symptoms as it raised your IGG antibodies. This is encouraging as these antibodies are one of the major players in Allergy symptoms. Sprirulina has also been known to help people with anemia, cancer, cardiovascular disease, hyperglycemia (high blood sugar), hyperlipidemia (high cholesterol), immunodeficiency, and inflammation (Chamorroet al. 2002 sep;52(3):232-40)

Chlorella is a very exciting supplement that is much like Spirulina or Wheat Grass. Some people believe that it is much better than the others. Also, some scientists and Physicians believe in the work of Dr.
is an excellent Dietrich Klinghardt, MD, Ph.D, a guru on Mercury detoxification. He believes that Chlorella is a detoxifier and more specifically believes in Mercury detoxification.

Kelp, another green algae, is thought to regulate the thyroid and pituitary glands. It is also thought to be very beneficial for the Adrenal Glands. The Adrenal system is a very important system as it controls many things from energy to sex steroid secretion. An Excellent Source of Fiber

Fiber is very well known product in today's society and for many good reasons. For one it is good for helping control appetite. Second, it is excellent for the bowels and colon and helps to make the stools more bulky and pass through the system faster. This is important because the longer the stool is in the colon, the higher the chance of causing headaches. It is also important because the longer the stool is sitting in the colon the more chance their is of the cancerous chemicals your body is riding itself of sit their and cause damage.

Apple Pectin is a very good source of soluble fiber. Apple pectin is not only good for the bowels for the above reasons but it also is helpful in supporting normal cholesterol levels, and at binding toxins.

Rice bran is another excellent source of fiber in Total Green. It too has also shown benefits with blood lipid levels (cholesterol).

Anti-inflammatory

Inflammation is a huge problem in today's society. We typically don't hear a lot about it though. A major reason for that is because, for the most part, inflammation is often not noticed until we are late in the game. In fact Time Magazine ran a cover article in titled Inflammation: The silent Killer. If that doesn't sum it up I don't know what does.

Many chronic diseases have been linked to Inflammation such as Cancer and Autoimmune diseases (Lupus, Rheumatoid Arthritis, etc...). If you would like more information on inflammation I encourage you to search our website.

Whey Protein is an excellent detoxifier and anti-inflammatory as it decreases C-reactive protein (an important inflammatory marker) int the blood. The whey used is this product isundenatured (meaning it has been processed very minimally) to protect the Enzymes, Bacteria, and Vitamins and is from cows not fed Antibiotics, Hormones or other harmful products.

 Whey protein is also very good for weight control.

Rosemary and Beta Sitosterol are two very good COX-2 inhibitors. Cox-2 is the the enzyme that causes inflammatory problems in the body. Rosemary raises the bodies detoxification levels and decreases the bodies inflammation and liver cell injury (Ahn J. et al 2004; Sotelo-Felix JI et al 2002).
No Artificial Sweeteners

This powder uses absolutely no sweeteners such as sucralose (Splenda), Aspartame (Nutrasweet), Phenylalanine, or Aceslfame K. Total Green uses Xylitol as a sweetener. Xylitol has no effect on blood glucose levels and actually has been shown to be good for the teeth.

There is also a little bit of Luo Han Guo in Total Green. This is also a natural sweetener which also has been shown to suppress the rise in blood sugar after a meal(Suzuki Y A t. al..2005).
Summary

In Summary of the Total Green Whey Protein I want to tell you that this is one of my favorite products offered at our clinic. The alkalizing effect of the product is simply to good for your body and to good to pass up. I take two scoops of this product about 5 mornings a week. I typically blend it with some blueberries, half of a banana, raw milk yogurt, and a little stevia (if I want to sweeten in a little more). You can also use this with saw almond butter, half of banana, raw yogurt. They both taste great and are phenomenal for you body.
